The affected models include the Kia Sportage and Hider, with nearly 3,000 vehicles involved in the recall across the country. This move comes as part of Kia's ongoing commitment to customer safety and quality assurance. Kia revealed that a total of 2,941 vehicles will be affected by the recall. Owners are advised to bring their cars to an authorized dealer for inspection and necessary repairs. The issue involves the seat belt pretensioner, which is designed to tighten the seat belts during a collision to enhance occupant protection. If the pretensioner fails, it could compromise the safety of passengers in the event of an accident. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) warned that if the cables inside the pretensioner were to break during operation, the device might not function properly, leaving passengers at greater risk. Although Kia Motors Korea has not yet reported any incidents of injury caused by this defect, the company is proactively addressing the issue. In response, Kia will contact affected vehicle owners via email to arrange free maintenance. If necessary, the faulty parts will be replaced at no cost to the owner.
