Profiled steel plate basic information

Profiled steel plate, also known as yaxing gangban in Chinese, is a type of corrugated metal sheet commonly used in construction. It is available in various thicknesses depending on its application. For roofing and wall panels, the typical thickness ranges from 0.4 to 1.6 mm. However, when used for structural components like bearing slabs or silos, the thickness can be as thick as 2 to 3 mm or more. The wave height of the profiled steel sheets usually varies between 10 and 200 mm. When not reinforced, the ratio of wave height to material thickness should not exceed 200 to ensure structural integrity.

For long roof panels, a slope of 2 to 5% is typically recommended, and the deflection should not exceed 1/300 of the span length (l). Common waveforms used in construction are illustrated in the figure titled "Common Waveforms for Profiled Steel Sheets." These designs help improve strength while maintaining lightweight properties.

Due to the thin nature of the original steel plate, the quality of the anti-corrosion coating plays a critical role in determining the lifespan of the product. To meet processing and rust prevention standards, coated steel plates must undergo strict inspections according to industry regulations. In some cases, after forming, thin steel plates can be painted with anti-rust coatings based on specific needs. Alternatively, stainless steel sheets may be used directly for applications requiring higher corrosion resistance.

When used as panels or wall systems in industrial buildings, profiled steel sheets generally consume about 5 to 11 kg of steel per square meter, assuming no insulation is required. If insulation is needed, materials such as mineral wool boards, glass wool, or foam plastic can be added. Additionally, profiled steel sheets can be combined with concrete to create composite slabs, which eliminate the need for wooden formwork and serve as load-bearing elements. To enhance the bond between the steel sheet and concrete, it is advisable to pre-weld shear studs or press two-way stiffeners onto the steel surface.
