Health Yuan developed H7N9 test kit to quickly monitor infection
With the ongoing spread of the bird flu epidemic, various provinces and cities have intensified their efforts to enhance drug reserves and improve testing methods for detecting and preventing avian influenza infections. On April 22, a reporter confirmed from Health Yuan that Shenzhen Taitai Gene Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Health Yuan, has developed and produced an H7N9 fluorescent PCR detection kit for bird flu. However, according to the company’s representative, the current version of the kit is still intended for research purposes only.
Earlier reports online had mentioned that the wife's gene (Taitai) had developed an H7N9 bird flu test kit. According to online sources, the H7N9 fluorescent PCR detection kit developed by Taitai primarily uses fluorescence probes to monitor real-time RT-PCR amplification. The kit includes a viral RNA extraction kit, AIV H7N9 reaction solution, as well as negative and positive controls for AIV H7N9. It also contains Taq enzyme and reverse transcriptase. By using an automated fluorescence PCR instrument, it directly detects changes in fluorescence signals during PCR amplification to provide test results. This kit can screen for H7N9 infection within two and a half hours, offering high sensitivity and specificity, enabling quick and accurate detection of H7N9 infections.
However, on April 22, the reporter conducted a live report with Health Yuan. The company acknowledged that Taitai had been involved in the field of avian flu fluorescent PCR kits since its establishment. In 2004, the technology was already quite mature. Currently, Taitai has successfully developed kits for detecting pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and for blood screening and testing.
As the bird flu epidemic continues to spread and intensify after the holiday period, Health Yuan has mobilized human and material resources to conduct research and development of the H7N9 fluorescent PCR detection kit. Through in-depth analysis of the H7N9 outbreak and its mutations, the company is working to meet the rising demand. At present, the production department is operating at full capacity, even working overnight to produce the test kits in order to address the current shortage of avian flu testing supplies. This effort aims to effectively support the prevention and control of the H7N9 virus and help curb the further spread of the epidemic.
